REVIEW: Menagerie by Rachel Vincent

RELEASE DATE : September 29, 2015

“But if monsters could look like humans, and humans could look like monsters, how could anyone ever really be sure that the right people stood on the outside of all those cages?”

So much praise for this one. Absolutely brilliant and twisted take on a fantasy world. If you've ever read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, this has much of the same visual vibe but the story is much darker. There is a lot of disturbing parts to get through in this book but it is so engaging.

REVIEW: End of Day (Jack & Jill 1) by Jewel E. Ann

RELEASE DATE : August 17, 2015

“I felt like a leaf falling from a tree and he was the wind whispering, I’ve got you.”

Jewel E. Ann SLAYS! I am totally in love with her writing.

Okay so to get things started, the Knight twins formerly Day, are trying to find their place in a new environment both mentally and physically. Book 1 is mainly focused on Jessica/Jillian and her battle to overcome her past. I absolutely love how brutal and beautiful she is as a character.

I FELT THIS CHICK.

REVIEW : Anything But Broken by Joelle Knox

RELEASE DATE : August 25, 2015

“God, it’s been a terrible idea the whole time, hasn’t it? What are we even doing?” His smile is slow, but it carries a promise behind it—absolute, unspeakable joy. “Falling in love.”

Ok just a little background on this. For those that aren't aware this is a new series by the ladies known as Kit Rocha who are behind the ultra-crazy and amazing Beyond series and in my opinion they have struck gold once again. I am a MASSIVE Kit Rocha fangirl so I am doing my best to not just say FUCKING BUY IT!.....but yeah you should totally fucking buy it and everything they put out.

REVIEW : Penalty Play (Power Play #3) by Lynda Aicher

RELEASE DATE : August 10, 2015

"Love is a gamble we have no control over."

This series is sports greatness it’s just the honest to goodness truth. I reviewed book 2 of the series last year and that left me a damn mess. Penalty Play continued my emotional destruction. Aicher can seriously pull out the big guns in a hockey series of all things! Kudos.

Raleigh West works in an auto shop day and night, trying to put his broken past out of mind. It’s been seven years since the fiery crash that landed his teenage sweetheart in the hospital . . . and him in jail. Never got a chance to apologize. And never forgave himself, either.

When brave, beautiful Mia Wentworth returns to the Florida coast for the first time in what seems like forever, it’s not to see Raleigh. Even so, the moment she arrives she can feel his presence like a gust of wind that gives her goose bumps. Opening her heart to him again seems impossible. But staying away? That might be harder still. Lucky for them both, Mia’s never been the kind of woman to take the easy way out.

Oh my lord I completely fell in love with Raleigh and Mia. This was such an amazing journey with their love trying to overcome every obstacle. Fuck man, these feels messing with my cold heart.

REVIEW : What Lies Behind by J.T. Ellison

RELEASE DATE : May 26, 2015

Waking to sirens in the night is hardly unusual for Samantha Owens. No longer a medical examiner, she doesn't lose sleep over them, but a routine police investigation in her neighborhood has her curious. When her homicide detective friend, Darren Fletcher, invites her to look over the evidence, she jumps at the chance and immediately realizes the crime scene has been staged. What seems to be a clear case of murder/suicide—a crime of passion—is anything but. The discovery of toxic substances in hidden vials indicates that something much more sinister is at play…

As Fletch and Sam try to understand what and who they are dealing with, they are summoned to a meeting at the State Department. High-level officials are interested in what they know and seem to be keeping secrets of their own. It's up to Sam and Fletch to uncover what lies behind the deception as the threat of bio-terrorism is exposed, and her boyfriend, Xander Whitfield, may be in the line of fire.

Unsure who to trust, Sam and Fletch find themselves up against very powerful people at every stage in the investigation. No one is who they appear to be and with every minute that passes, the danger escalates. It's Sam's most complex case yet and the terrifying reality is beyond anything she could have imagined.

Thanks to Net Galley and Harlequin books for the copy.

Sorry, it took me some time to finish this one with real life getting in the way. I tend to go for more fast paced mystery thrillers so this was a little slow on the build for me but it was enjoyable.

REVIEW : Nova and Quinton: No Regrets by Jessica Sorensen

RELEASE DATE : April 7, 2015

Today is the first day of Quinton Carter's new life. The toxic guilt of his past left him in pieces-but one girl unexpectedly put him back together. Thanks to Nova Reed, Quinton can finally see the world with clear eyes. She's the reason his heart is still kicking behind the jagged scar on his chest. And he would love to have her in his arms every minute of the day . . . but he's not ready yet.

Playing drums in a band and living with her best friends are just some of the highlights of Nova's life. But the best new development? Talking to Quinton on the phone each night. She wishes she could touch him, kiss him, though she knows he needs time to heal. Yet shocking news is on the way-a reminder of life's dark side-and Nova will need Quinton like he once needed her. Is he strong enough to take the final leap out of his broken past . . . and into Nova's heart?

Thanks to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC.

Let me start by saying that I have not read the other parts to this series but I have read at least a handful of works by Jessica Sorensen. One of the things that continue to make me a new fan is her ability to draw out some serious emotions in her words. Her stories aren’t sappy or your typical happily ever after. Each story is both heartbreaking and uplifting.

REVIEW : Luckiest Girl Alive: A Novel by Jessica Knoll

SCHEDULED RELEASE DATE : May 12, 2015

HER PERFECT LIFE IS A PERFECT LIE.

As a teenager at the prestigious Bradley School, Ani FaNelli endured a shocking, public humiliation that left her desperate to reinvent herself. Now, with a glamorous job, expensive wardrobe, and handsome blue blood fiancé, she’s this close to living the perfect life she’s worked so hard to achieve.
But Ani has a secret.
There’s something else buried in her past that still haunts her, something private and painful that threatens to bubble to the surface and destroy everything.
With a singular voice and twists you won’t see coming, Luckiest Girl Alive explores the unbearable pressure that so many women feel to “have it all” and introduces a heroine whose sharp edges and cutthroat ambition have been protecting a scandalous truth, and a heart that's bigger than it first appears.
The question remains: will breaking her silence destroy all that she has worked for—or, will it at long last, set Ani free?

Special thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC.

It took me some time to complete this book. Not because it was bad or anything because it is very far from that, but because it is just so incredibly disturbing. I may have put it in the freezer once or twice. Gosh I hope people get that reference.
