REVIEW : Dramatically Ever After by Isabel Bandeira

Series: Ever After (Book 2)
Paperback: 384 pages
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press (June 20, 2017)

Senior year is not shaping up to be the picture perfect movie Em Katsaros had imagined. Her super hot leading man is five thousand miles away. Her dad just got laid off. And Em can kiss her first-pick university goodbye if she doesn't snag a scholarship.

To turn this Shakespearean tragedy into the Academy Award-winning dream Em has written for herself, she enters a speech competition and manages to cinch a spot in the US Youth Change Council national round. She gets to spend a week in Boston and her prayers might be answered if she can kick butt and win one of the national scholarships.

Everything seems to be going by the script until she finds out Kris Lambert―senior class president, stuck-up jerk, and her nemesis―is going, too. Cue the dramatic music. In Boston, Kris is different. Nice. Cute, even. But she knows his game way too well―be nice to your opponents and then throw them under the bus on your way to victory. Instead of becoming his next victim, Em decides to turn the tables by putting her acting and flirting skills to work. Unfortunately, as they get close to the final competition and judging, reality and acting start to blur.

Can Em use the drama from the stage to get the future she's been dreaming of?

REVIEW : Bookishly Ever After by Isabel Bandeira

RELEASED ON : JANUARY 12, 2016
In a perfect world, sixteen-year-old Phoebe Martins’ life would be a book. Preferably one filled with magic and a hot paranormal love interest. Unfortunately, her life probably wouldn’t even qualify for a quiet contemporary.
Everything changes when Phoebe learns that Dev, the hottest guy in the clarinet section, might actually have a crush on her. So, Phoebe turns to the heroines in her favorite books for inspiration, but becoming as awesome as her book characters isn’t as easy as it sounds. When another girl nets Dev for herself right out from under Phoebe’s nose, she’s crushed.
And, to up the suckage, she gets assigned as his co-counselor at a sixth grade camp and has to spend an entire week tied to the hip with the one guy on the planet she wanted to avoid. Can she make it through the potential danger of romantic bonfires and nature walks, or will her counseling career end in emotional disaster? Can she ever go back to her happy world of fictional boys after falling for the real thing?

GODDAMNIT MARVEL!

It figures that the day after I pay off some of my college debt, Marvel decides to just shit on every monthly subscription box.

They have announced a partnership with Funko and will be sending out exclusive items in a bi-monthly service. First box goes out in April, just in time for The Avengers : Age of Ultron. It's themed to the movie and you get a 6" Hulkbuster.

There are two plans to pick from. The Founders Program includes a 12-month subscription, 6 boxes and an additional exclusive 8” Founder Statue on the anniversary of your membership as a reward. All together you are looking at a good $200.

Then there is your Collector Program at $25. Everything the founders get EXCEPT the anniversary gift. This will probably round out to about $30-$35.

Do I want this? FUCK YES. I mean let's face it, in the nerd world, it gets no bigger than Marvel. They made a smart move getting into the mix with other services like Nerd Block and Loot Crate.
So I begin the search for spare cash to feed my subscription addiction. If you want in on the action, you can check out  Marvel Collector Corps

Nerd with anxiety says hi

If you've managed to find yourself here, its probably because I've harassed you with various links and lies. I have no shame when behind the keyboard. Beyond that, I'm a typical twenty-something with social anxiety and depression and absolutely no idea what to do with her life. Sounds fun right?

At this exact moment I'm wondering what the fuck I'm doing even starting this. It's 4pm on a Sunday and I just spent the last hour looking for ways to make more money, and wondering what to major in IF I decide to pursue a bachelors degree.

BUBKIS

Yeah. Nothing at all.

How did I land here and what is this all about? Well, as you may have figured from a line above, I'm a reader. A very heavy reader. In the last two years, if I go by my Goodreads count, I've gone through at least 200+ books. On the side, I work as a library page and do free book reviews for new writers. I also have a side hobby in graphic design, which was my main area of study until life decided to throw a few curve balls.

Cut to the point, This will be my nerd haven. A place where I will post anything I find to be of nerd value, in my daily experiences. What I read, what I watch, where I go, what I design. I hope to create a fun spot for anyone like me.

Before I go completely off-track, I should mention my use of the word "Nerd". Ever since I was deemed teachers pet in kindergarten straight to freshman year in college, I have been labeled a nerd. This has never bothered me. I'm quite proud of it. It's not just about smarts either. Its a really weird community. Over the years, society has embraced the idea of "the nerd". Whoever thought Comic Con would be as popular as it is?!

Anyway, I hope to get this going within the week. Get a better look for this page. Eesh. I'll probably start with a few book and television reviews.

Oh, that reminds me, SHAMELESS on Showtime at 9pm!
