GODDAMNIT MARVEL!

It figures that the day after I pay off some of my college debt, Marvel decides to just shit on every monthly subscription box.

They have announced a partnership with Funko and will be sending out exclusive items in a bi-monthly service. First box goes out in April, just in time for The Avengers : Age of Ultron. It's themed to the movie and you get a 6" Hulkbuster.

There are two plans to pick from. The Founders Program includes a 12-month subscription, 6 boxes and an additional exclusive 8” Founder Statue on the anniversary of your membership as a reward. All together you are looking at a good $200.

Then there is your Collector Program at $25. Everything the founders get EXCEPT the anniversary gift. This will probably round out to about $30-$35.

Do I want this? FUCK YES. I mean let's face it, in the nerd world, it gets no bigger than Marvel. They made a smart move getting into the mix with other services like Nerd Block and Loot Crate.
So I begin the search for spare cash to feed my subscription addiction. If you want in on the action, you can check out  Marvel Collector Corps

REVIEW : Beautiful Burn by Adriane Leigh

RELEASE DATE : January 13, 2015
I've broken him, bent him, and burned him, and each fevered moment was worth every ounce of pain.
Auburn Lawrence has loved her English teacher, Reed West, since she was sixteen. Through brainstorming stories, reading classic literature, and plenty of fiery banter, they've forged a bond that neither of them expected. Propelled by a chance encounter after her graduation, they discover just how deep their connection runs, but love requires more than chemistry to flourish. They spend three electrifying summer months discovering each other under a veil of forbidden passion and desperate lust before they learn that the unattainable is often destined to remain exactly that. By the time temperatures dip and snowflakes fly, their relationship will face a deep freeze that threatens to snap the bond they thought they shared, shattering their lives one secret at a time. Intended for mature audiences.
I must say that I was left rather surprised by this book. When reading the summary, you don't expect someone to get emotional over it. I mean, a sexy teacher/student affair? what could possibly bring on the feels? Well it does, or at least it did for me.

Went in thinking, 'oh this will be a quick sexy, smutty teacher/student fantasy read'. NO.

I mean you do get some very dirty scenes but there was more to it in the big scope of it all.

Reed and Auburn reunite during the summer when Reed is teaching a writing course. Auburn is technically no longer his student and she's legal, which smooths out some issues. What it doesn't help, is Reed's failed marriage to his college love Mel. As you can guess, she's a source of frustration and assholery.

She is NOT the biggest issue, however. Auburn and Reed face something far more worse than an evil ex.

The best line for this is probably the classic of "Don't judge a book by its cover". This was definitely more than the hot sheets image it puts out.

Nerd with anxiety says hi

If you've managed to find yourself here, its probably because I've harassed you with various links and lies. I have no shame when behind the keyboard. Beyond that, I'm a typical twenty-something with social anxiety and depression and absolutely no idea what to do with her life. Sounds fun right?

At this exact moment I'm wondering what the fuck I'm doing even starting this. It's 4pm on a Sunday and I just spent the last hour looking for ways to make more money, and wondering what to major in IF I decide to pursue a bachelors degree.

BUBKIS

Yeah. Nothing at all.

How did I land here and what is this all about? Well, as you may have figured from a line above, I'm a reader. A very heavy reader. In the last two years, if I go by my Goodreads count, I've gone through at least 200+ books. On the side, I work as a library page and do free book reviews for new writers. I also have a side hobby in graphic design, which was my main area of study until life decided to throw a few curve balls.

Cut to the point, This will be my nerd haven. A place where I will post anything I find to be of nerd value, in my daily experiences. What I read, what I watch, where I go, what I design. I hope to create a fun spot for anyone like me.

Before I go completely off-track, I should mention my use of the word "Nerd". Ever since I was deemed teachers pet in kindergarten straight to freshman year in college, I have been labeled a nerd. This has never bothered me. I'm quite proud of it. It's not just about smarts either. Its a really weird community. Over the years, society has embraced the idea of "the nerd". Whoever thought Comic Con would be as popular as it is?!

Anyway, I hope to get this going within the week. Get a better look for this page. Eesh. I'll probably start with a few book and television reviews.

Oh, that reminds me, SHAMELESS on Showtime at 9pm!
